Features of the "CiberAtlas Triatominae" (CAT)
  • "CAT", stands for "Cyber Atlas of Triatominae". It is a revised, extended version of the previous "Ciberatlas de los Triatominae de Bolivia".
  • CAT shows picture of each (available) species of the subfamily Triatominae (Hemiptera: Reduviidae), with the name(s) of the author(s) responsible for the collection, the documentation and identification of the insect.
  • For each specimen, the following parts are shown: the dorsal and ventral aspects of the entire insect, the head, the thorax, the wing. More is shown if available, like nymphs or other features. Also, taxonomic, ecologic and epidemiologic traits are reported, as well as a short bibliography.
  • CAT is presently not limited to Bolivia: it shows images and documentacion for each country of Latin America, for the USA and for the Old World.
  • Last but not least, CAT offers you a tutorial to test your knowledge on Triatominae !

Download last version (>100 MBytes)
August 2007: version 7
  • Please have a look at a typical content of the CAT folder
  • Last version of the core component, when available, can be obtained from the CATwin folder for Windows, or the CATlin folder for Linux.
Download separate components in case of corrupted CAT, in case of small steps intallation or update (see under)

If downloading the complete program has failed, or is too tedious a task for your INTERNET speed, it is possible to build your CAT by 3 separate steps
  • STEP 1: according to your system, Windows or Linux, please download the above single "CATwin" or "CATlin" folder (see "Last version of the core component" above) and decompress it (using the 'Winzip' demo version for instance if you are under windows, 'tar' if you are under Linux)
  • STEP 2: Download one by one ALL of the 24 above 'country' folders ('Argentina', 'Belize', 'Bolivia', etc.) and put them INSIDE the folder called "TrilinJPG", itself located INSIDE the "CATwin" or "CATlin" folder you just decompressed. (If only part of the 'country' folders has been downloaded, the program will be able to work but with limited capacities).
  • STEP 3: Decompress each downloaded folder within "TrilinJPG" folder
If you just want to update:
  • I. First rename your CAT folder to 'CATlin_old' (or 'CATwin_old', depending on what is your system);
  • II. as in 'STEP 1' above, download 'CATlin' or 'CATwin' (see "Last version of the core component" above), and decompress the downloaded folder;
  • III. then transfer your 'country' folders ('Argentina', 'Belize', 'Bolivia', etc.) from your old package to the new one, as follows:
  • - open the TrilinJPG folder from within your old CAT (either 'CATlin_old' or 'CATwin_old' folder),
  • - open the TrilinJPG folder from within your new CAT (either 'CATlin' or 'CATwin' folder),
  • - copy the 'country' folders ('Argentina', 'Belize', 'Bolivia', etc.) from your old CAT to the new one (the copy is limited to the 'country' folders, do not copy the 'files_TXT' folder for instance).
